"The cure for anything is salt water- sweat, tears and the sea." Karen Blixen
"Water inspires and intimidates us, simultaneously creating a sense of peace and awe.
To stand on the liminal space of the shoreline, as the tide ebbs and flows, invites contemplation and an awareness of a connection to something beyond oneself. The works comprise acrylic paint and ink on canvas and board, the liquidity of the medium echoing the ceaseless movement of the waves.
In 2022, a daily beach walk allowed the artist to process loss and grief. Within each painting, the light illuminates dark, cloudy skies, offering hope and healing. This series is a personal response to the deep pull of the ocean on our psyche and was created ,in gratitude, for the solace gifted by the sea.
Imbued with emotion, large acrylic artworks illuminate place, light and acceptancy through times of loss, grief, bereavement.
